Editor’s Note: In honor of Women’s History Month, we sit down with the visionary behind Healthy Real Estate & Associates (HREA). A tribute to the roots that sustain a brand. We discuss the woman who started it all, Sharon Hamilton, and how her spirit is modernizing an entire industry.
The Heart of the Brand
HREA: This month we celebrate the architects of history. When you look at the blueprint of Healthy Real Estate & Associates, whose hands do you see in the design?
Founder: My mother’s. HREA was birthed because she made me believe that I could do anything I set my mind to. She nurtured the “entrepreneurial bug” in me since I was a little girl. The vision of building a “Healthy” lifestyle, and teaching others how to do it, came from the values she instilled, but also from the painful truth of losing her while juggling the demands of this profession. I vowed then that I would prioritize time and people. I want to teach others that they can work in a demanding field while fitting there career into their lifestyle, rather than the other way around. I hope she would see how much her life meant to me: her impact is still giving today.
HREA: You often speak about “Onward Focus” over “Outward Focus.” How does that shape a women’s success?
Founder: Comparison is the thief of vitality. My message to every woman reading this is: celebrate yourself and others. Outward focus leads to distractions, while onward focus leads to growth and measurable success.
“I didn’t want to sit at a new restaurant every night and eat the same steak, prepared the same way 20 years ago. My mission is to stand-out.” – Sharon Hamilton
Redefining the Industry
HREA: HREA is famously “anti-traditional” in its brokerage model. Why was it important to break the mold?
Founder: I’m a visionary at heart. Creating HREA allowed me to get off the hamster wheel and embrace all facets of who I am, educator, consultant, designer, and servant-leader.
In this industry, it’s common to see a multitude of brands doing the exact same thing, with the only difference being a logo. It’s like sitting at a new restaurant every night and eating the same steak, prepared the exact same way you had it twenty years ago. My mission is to stand out. We are reimagining the service model from the inside out so that consumers feel advocated for, not just “processed.”
HREA: How does “Healthy” translate into a real estate transaction?
Founder: Real estate is often the last thing people associate with the word “Healthy.” Agents are “hustlers” sacrificing everything for a check, and clients are often navigating unhealthy, stressful life scenarios. A “Healthy” transaction has structure, support, and transparency. There is no guesswork because our clients are well-informed. It’s that Je ne sais quoi—a feeling of being heard and supported. We build healthy relationships to ensure healthy outcomes.
The Future & Mentorship
HREA: As a mother who started this firm while pregnant, what environment are you building for the women following in your footsteps?
Founder: I opened my firm three months before finding out I was pregnant. I was “pregnant” with two babies at once, my son and my business. I was the only person on the journey in 2018.
In the early days of HREA, I learned quickly that community isn’t just a support system, it is the only way to survive. We have cultivated an environment where we no longer ‘schedule around’ our families, but instead weave our profession into the very fabric of a healthy life. At HREA, our children are our ‘mini-agents’; they join us at closings and showings, witnessing their mothers lead in real-time. This integration isn’t just a convenience, it’s a core value. By inviting our clients into this piece of our lives, we transform a cold transaction into a joyful, human connection. We aren’t just selling homes; we are demonstrating the art of balance and proving that, in a community of like-minded servant-leaders, you can build a legacy without sacrificing your life.
HREA: Where do you see HREA in five years?
Founder: I see more servant-leaders added to our team. I see HREA as an education hub for both the agent and the consumer, with strategic partnerships that allow us to serve far beyond Delaware.
A Final Note on Legacy
HREA: If someone could remember just one thing about Sharon Hamilton and the founder of HREA, what should it be?
Founder: Always remember how I treated you. For those I loved, never forget how I loved you.
As a daughter, I know my mother’s legacy shapes me as a wife, mother, and leader. She was a spiritual giant, humble, strong, and selfless. I want the world to know her life and purpose mattered. It shaped me, and it shaped the culture of this business. Legacy doesn’t die.
